The Fall of Mobile-Dentistry

As an assignment in my last semester of school, I was supposed to perform a "Nacho's Grande" sized community service effort. Two of my closest friends and I coordinated efforts with a local dentist and offered dental care to residents of long-term care facilities. Things went so well that the dentist involved in this project offered us employment as hygienists who would practice mobile dentistry.
It took a lot of hard work, but he kept speaking of a pay rate that would make our efforts well worth our time. We performed many in-services for the staff at various care facilities and spread the word of our new practice on our free time. Things were growing slowly, but surely. The practice was finally to the point where a hygienist could work a day treating patients and make pay similar to what is usually seen in a full weeks time. Then, the plug on mobile dentistry was pulled!
After our biggest day the dentist sent out an e-mail simply stating that he was financially broke and needed the income that the hygiene portion of the practice was producing.
A month later I was still waiting for payment regarding services already rendered. He then told me that our practice was bankrupt and he would have to revert to an "average hygiene salary" for my time. I didn't accept his low-ball deal and held all of his equipment hostage until he could muster up my full payment. It took a couple of weeks, but I won. I finally received full payment for my time with Mobile-Dentistry. What a head-ache that was!
Floor and I took all of his equipment to his home late last night and ditched it on his front porch. Smell ya later, Mobile-Dentistry.

Oh man! That just stinks!!! I was really hoping this would work out great for you guys. The community definitely needs something like Mobile Dentistry! So what now for you? Are you working at a private practice office?

Sorry about the mobile dentistry. It sounded like such a good thing. As I recall lots of girls just made up stuff but you guys actually did your project. Congrats on your little girl!

Considering the economy, possibly the dentist (his idea was a good one) just got caught on the short side of the credit stick. It's too bad though because someone else will step in where you left off and clean house.
