Jumping with Grandma

Both Ends of the Spectrum

So wide awake...

...and so sound asleep. Like putty in your arms, Grandpa Bob.

Spring Fever

It's that time of year again. The weather couldn't be better and Munchkin kindly invited Markie to join him for an afternoon drive in his John Deere, which Markie graciously accepted. Those boys are so cute together.

Here's Munchkin practicing his pose for picture day at school.

Wardrobe Malfunction

Here's Munchkin, or as he's being called more and more around the house, big-brother, modeling his own wardrobe creation.

Feeling Happy

I'm feeling good today. We got plenty of sleep last night and little-sister didn't go through her fussy phase during the late-night hours. I'm figuring out a schedule that she likes and I really like it when she likes her schedule. Also, her upper-respiratory-tract infection has not spread or gotten any worse. Yippee, we are doing well. Here's to another great night.

Baby Update

Any free time that I have goes, by default, towards sleeping. Therefore, I have been negligent in my posts about life with a new baby.
It has been an interesting few weeks and a lot has happened.
It took me a couple of nights to get the baby into a routine with a sleep/wake schedule. We were doing well and she slept for the majority of the night, waking every couple of hours for feedings. That schedule has now been tossed aside and we are making way for what I fear might be the beginning of infantile colic. This was my biggest fear while pregnant, as I went through this with Munchkin and it was HELL, no lie.
The doctors have alerted us to the fact that we are at the height of RSV season. We have been advised by her pediatrician to avoid any outings for the firsts few months. We've been super careful with her although we haven't halted life for other family members. In an attempt to provide normalcy to Munchkin's suddenly crazy life as a big-brother, we continued his routine preschool schedule. He brought home a cough and now baby-sister has the beginnings of an upper-respiratory-tract infection. Let's keep our fingers crossed that it isn't RSV. Being only three weeks old, this could provide serious complications.
So... possible colic and RSV? AGH!
After being home a few days I developed an allergic reaction to something. I still don't know what I was reacting to, but it was fierce. I have now had three outbreaks of hives. Being drugged with benadryl makes me so drowsy and kills my ability to demonstrate patience to my children. Oh, I become a bear.
Enough bad news, how about some good... Munchkin is a very sweet, attentive brother. He shares his mimi (his special blanket) with little-sister and tells her that he loves her every day. He is a great helper with diaper changes and bath-time.
She is a beautiful baby and we are having fun trying on all of her new outfits. She is doing a marvelous job at nursing and continues to gain weight.
Despite our rough patch we seem to be in, we are happy. Each day provides us with laughter and love and there is a glimpse of hope that life will return to normal in a few months.
